What is included in a dental check-up?

A proper check-up is more than a quick look. At every routine visit we do:

  • A full examination — every tooth, your gums, your bite, and any existing fillings, crowns or dentures.
  • Decay and gum-disease screening — a cavity caught early is a small filling. The same cavity found two years later is a root canal and a crown.
  • Oral cancer screening — a check of the soft tissues, particularly important if you use gutka, pan masala or tobacco.
  • A written treatment plan with costs — before anything begins, so you can decide in your own time.

Check-up, cleaning, or both?

Most people book both together, which is the ₹1,800 visit — we examine everything, then scale and polish in the same sitting.

If it has been several years, or your gums bleed when you brush, you may need deep scaling instead: ₹2,400 to ₹3,600, usually across two sittings. Hardened tartar below the gum line takes considerably longer to remove than ordinary staining, which is the entire difference between the two prices. We will tell you which you need at the examination, before you commit to anything.

What affects the cost of a check-up?

  • Whether you need X-rays — many check-ups need none at all.
  • How much cleaning is needed — light staining is one sitting; years of hardened tartar is not.
  • First visit or recall — a six-month recall for an existing patient is shorter than a first full assessment.
  • Clinic and city — metro and premium clinics charge considerably more than Nagpur rates.

Is a paid check-up worth it?

A check-up is the cheapest dental care there is, and the only kind that saves you money. ₹300 to find a problem early, against several thousand to fix what it becomes — and several more appointments.

Most people who arrive in pain tell us they had been putting off a check-up to save money. It almost never works out cheaper.

How often should you have a check-up?

Once every six months for most adults. If you smoke, chew gutka or pan masala, have gum disease or diabetes, or wear braces, every three to four months is safer. Children should be seen from the time their first teeth come through — see children’s check-ups.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a dental check-up cost in Nagpur?

At The White Dental Practice, the consultation and examination cost ₹300, and a check-up with a cleaning is ₹1,800. Consultations are free on select days, and a second opinion is always free.

Is the cleaning included in the check-up charge?

Not in the ₹300 examination, no. The ₹1,800 visit includes both — a full examination plus a scale and polish in one sitting. We price them separately so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

Why is deep scaling more expensive than the cleaning in the package?

The ₹1,800 visit includes a standard scale and polish in a single sitting. Deep scaling — for heavy tartar below the gum line or established gum disease — takes much longer, usually needs two sittings, and costs ₹2,400 to ₹3,600. We tell you which one you need at the examination.

Do I have to pay for X-rays?

Only if you need them, and many check-ups need none. A single X-ray (IOPA) is ₹300. A full-mouth OPG is not done here — we refer you to an imaging centre, where it usually costs ₹600 to ₹1,200.

Can I get a free dental check-up in Nagpur?

We offer free consultations on select days, and a second opinion is always free — so if you already have a treatment plan and want it checked, that costs nothing. Otherwise the examination is ₹300. Message us to ask which days are free.

Does scaling damage or loosen teeth?

No. Scaling removes hardened tartar, it does not remove tooth. Teeth can feel slightly loose or sensitive for a few days afterwards because the tartar that was splinting them is gone and the gums are healing. That settles. More on whether scaling is safe.

How long does a check-up take?

About 20 to 30 minutes for the examination. Add roughly another 30 minutes if you are having a cleaning at the same visit.
