What causes bad breath and how can I prevent it?
Bad breath is often caused by poor oral hygiene, food particles trapped between teeth, gum disease, dry mouth, tobacco use, or certain foods (onions, garlic). Prevention: Brush twice daily, floss regularly, stay hydrated, use mouthwash, and get professional cleaning. We can help identify and treat the root cause if bad breath persists.

Do I need teeth cleaning even if my teeth don't hurt?
Yes! Professional scaling and polishing remove plaque and tartar that regular brushing cannot reach. It prevents gum disease, removes stubborn stains, keeps your smile bright and healthy, and prevents cavities before they cause pain. Regular cleaning is preventive care — don't wait for pain to visit the dentist!

How can I prevent cavities and gum disease?
Prevent dental problems by brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, flossing daily to remove plaque between teeth, reducing sugary foods and drinks, avoiding tobacco, managing diabetes (if any), visiting us regularly for check-ups (every 6 months), and using mouthwash (alcohol-free recommended).

What is the best way to brush my teeth?
Proper brushing technique: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste, hold brush at 45° angle to gums, gently circle teeth (not harsh scrubbing), brush all surfaces (outer, inner, and top), brush for 2 minutes minimum, rinse and clean your toothbrush. Brush twice daily (morning and night).

Should I floss every day?
Yes! Flossing daily is essential because it removes plaque and food between teeth where brushes can't reach. It prevents gum disease and cavities, reduces bad breath, and maintains healthy gums. Floss once daily (preferably at night).

Is it normal for my gums to bleed when I brush?
No, bleeding gums are not normal and usually indicate gum inflammation (gingivitis) caused by plaque buildup. If bleeding continues for more than a week, visit us for evaluation and treatment.

Treatments & Procedures

What services does The White Dental Practice offer?
We provide comprehensive dental care including routine check-ups and cleanings, tooth fillings and restorations, dental crowns and bridges, fixed dental prosthesis (crowns, bridges), teeth whitening and cosmetic treatments, root canal therapy (including single-sitting RCT), dental implants, orthodontic treatments (braces and aligners), pediatric dentistry, gum disease treatment, and emergency dental care.

What is a root canal treatment and does it hurt?
Root Canal Treatment (RCT) saves an infected or badly decayed tooth. With modern techniques and anesthesia, it is virtually painless — similar to getting a filling. Single-sitting RCTs are also available at our clinic for faster treatment. Most patients recover within 2–3 days.

What are dental implants and are they suitable for me?
Dental implants are the best long-term solution to replace missing teeth. They look and function like natural teeth, prevent bone loss in the jaw, last 20+ years (often lifetime), and don't damage neighboring teeth. Suitability depends on your bone health — we assess this with X-rays and OPG during consultation. Contact us for a consultation to discuss if implants are right for you.

Do you offer braces or aligners? How long does treatment take?
Yes! We provide metal braces (traditional, affordable), ceramic braces (less visible), and clear aligners (removable, nearly invisible). Treatment time: Usually 12–24 months depending on the case. Affordable options are available. Contact us for a consultation and personalized treatment plan.

Is teeth whitening safe and effective?
Yes! Professional teeth whitening is safe and gives excellent results, especially for stains caused by tea, coffee, tobacco, aging, and certain foods. We offer both in-clinic whitening (60–90 minutes, immediate results) and take-home whitening kits. Results last 6–12 months with proper care.

What is a dental crown, and when do I need one?
A dental crown is a custom-made cap that covers a damaged tooth completely. You may need a crown for severely damaged or broken teeth, large fillings that weaken the tooth, after root canal therapy, weak teeth prone to cracking, or cosmetic improvement for misshapen or discolored teeth. Crowns typically last 10–15 years with proper care.

What is a dental bridge, and how does it work?
A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by connecting an artificial tooth (pontic) to crowns on adjacent healthy teeth. It prevents neighboring teeth from shifting, restores chewing function, improves smile appearance, and maintains facial structure. Bridges are fixed (permanent) and can last 10–15 years.

What is fixed dental prosthesis?
Fixed dental prosthesis refers to permanent dental replacements that cannot be removed by the patient, including crowns (to cover damaged teeth), bridges (to replace missing teeth), and dental implants with crowns. These are professionally fitted and stay in place permanently.

What is gum disease, and how is it treated?
Gum disease (periodontitis) is inflammation/infection of the gums and bone supporting teeth, caused by plaque buildup. Signs include red, swollen, or bleeding gums, gum recession, persistent bad breath, or loose teeth. Treatment includes deep cleaning (scaling and root planing), antibacterial treatments, improved oral hygiene routine, and regular maintenance visits. Early treatment prevents tooth loss.

What are your consultation fees and treatment costs?
Initial consultation is very affordable at [insert price, e.g., ₹500–₹1,000]. We provide transparent pricing with detailed treatment plans. Costs vary depending on the procedure — please contact us for a personalized quote.

We accept most major health insurance plans (where dental coverage is included). Maharashtra government schemes may also apply in certain cases. Feel free to check with our team — we'll verify your coverage before treatment.

Do you offer affordable payment options?
Yes! We provide transparent pricing with no hidden costs, multiple payment methods (cash, card, UPI, online), insurance acceptance for covered procedures, treatment plans that fit your budget, and package deals for certain treatments.

What should I expect on my first visit?
We will take your medical and dental history, perform a thorough examination (with X-rays if needed), discuss your concerns and goals, create a personalized treatment plan, and provide cost estimate before starting treatment. First visits usually take 45–60 minutes.

What should I bring to my first visit?
For your first appointment, please bring medical insurance card (if applicable), previous dental records or X-rays (if you have them), list of current medications, medical history (any health conditions, allergies), and payment method for consultation/treatment fees.

Pain & Emergency Care

How do I handle a dental emergency?
Call us immediately for severe pain, swelling, knocked-out teeth, or trauma. We prioritize emergency cases. After clinic hours: Rinse with warm water, apply a cold compress if needed, take over-the-counter pain reliever (if needed), call us as soon as we open.

What should I do for a toothache?
For a toothache: Rinse your mouth with warm water, floss gently to remove any trapped food, apply a cold compress to reduce swelling, take over-the-counter pain reliever (if needed), call us immediately to schedule an emergency appointment. Do NOT place aspirin directly on the tooth or gum.

What counts as a dental emergency?
Dental emergencies include severe tooth pain lasting more than 24 hours, knocked-out tooth, broken or cracked tooth, bleeding that doesn't stop, swollen gums/face/jaw, lost crown or bridge, dental abscess (pus, infection), and trauma to teeth or mouth.

My tooth was knocked out. What should I do?
Time is critical! Follow these steps: Pick up the tooth by the crown (white part), not the root; rinse gently with water if dirty (don't scrub); try to reinsert it in the socket (if possible); if not reinsertable, keep it in milk or saliva (inside mouth); call us immediately and come within 30–60 minutes. The sooner you arrive, the higher the chance of saving the tooth.

I have a lost or broken crown/bridge. What should I do?
Temporarily avoid chewing on that side, keep the crown/bridge if you have it, clean the area gently, call us to schedule an appointment within 24–48 hours, and do NOT use household glue to reattach it.

Special Concerns

Is it safe to get dental treatment in Nagpur?
Yes. We follow strict sterilization and infection control protocols as per Indian Dental Association guidelines. Patient safety is our top priority. Our clinic uses autoclaved instruments for every procedure, disposable materials when appropriate, up-to-date sterilization equipment, and professional hygiene standards.

What if I'm anxious or scared of dental treatment?
Many patients feel nervous. We offer gentle, painless procedures, caring environment, clear explanations before each step, modern anesthesia for pain-free treatment, and sedation options for highly anxious patients. We take time to build trust and ensure you're comfortable.

Do you offer sedation dentistry?
Yes! We offer sedation options for anxious patients: Local anesthesia (numbing) for most treatments, Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for relaxation, and Oral sedation (medication before treatment). Discuss your anxiety level with us, and we'll recommend the best option.

I have diabetes. Can I still get dental treatment?
Yes! Patients with diabetes can receive dental care. We recommend informing us about your diabetes and health status, visiting when blood sugar is controlled, more frequent check-ups (every 3–4 months), and careful gum monitoring (diabetes increases gum disease risk).

Are you equipped for pregnant patients?
Yes. Dental care during pregnancy is important and safe. We avoid X-rays unless absolutely necessary, schedule during second trimester (most comfortable), use pregnancy-safe medications, and coordinate with your doctor if needed. Inform us if you're pregnant before your visit.

Do you treat children?
Yes! We offer pediatric dentistry. Our team is trained to make children feel comfortable and safe. We provide routine check-ups, fillings, preventive care, and emergency dental care for children. We recommend starting visits by age 1 or when the first tooth appears.

After Treatment

What should I expect after dental treatment?
Post-treatment care varies by procedure, but generally: mild sensitivity or discomfort for 1–3 days (normal), follow dentist's instructions for care, avoid hard foods on treated area initially, take prescribed medications if given, contact us if you experience severe pain or unusual symptoms.

How long do dental crowns last?
Dental crowns typically last 10–15 years with proper care. Some last 20+ years. Factors affecting longevity include oral hygiene, regular check-ups, avoiding hard foods, and material quality.

What should I do after teeth whitening?
After teeth whitening: avoid dark-colored foods/drinks for 24–48 hours, use a straw for beverages, avoid smoking, maintain good oral hygiene, and schedule touch-up treatments every 6–12 months.

How often should I visit the dentist?

We recommend visiting every 6 months for routine check-ups and professional cleaning. This helps prevent cavities, gum disease, and other issues common in India due to diet and hygiene factors. Patients with diabetes, tobacco use, or existing problems may need more frequent visits (every 3–4 months).

When should my child first see a dentist?

The first dental visit is recommended as soon as the first tooth erupts or by the child's first birthday. Early visits help prevent early childhood caries, which is quite common in India. We provide gentle, child-friendly care to make dental visits positive experiences.
